  • Notes
    • Evening Despatch (Birmingham), 10 August 1915
      POLICE PRESENTATIONS
Superintendant G Monk, on behalf of the "C" Division of the City Police Force, presented Private Alfred Scotson, of the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards, with a wristlet watch, on behalf of the Handsworth and Lozella sub-divisions, with a dinner and tea service, and with a smoker's cabinet, pipes, tobacco, and cigarettes from a few friends, and with a bangle for his wife.
Scotson, who was a member of the police force before rejoining the colours in August last year, was married to Wednesday (4 Aug 1915), and this gave his comrades an opportunity of showing the esteem in which he is held by them. Scotson has taken part in the battles of Mons, Marne, Alene, Soissons, Neuve Chapelle, and La Baese.
